2015 was a darn good year. I explored the City more than I ever had, completing my "NYC Photos" project; met with friends; celebrated with family at home; drank cups upon cups upon cups of coffee at cafes (favorite: Intelligentsia); ran on the treadmill, in parks, and in races; discovered so much good new music and finally went to Tanglewood; read some pretty good books (favorites: Just Kids and Novels and Stories); played in the best piano trio; crossed so many items off my NYC bucket list; watched movies and videos that made me think, laugh, and cry; learned new things at work and said goodbye to my work friends; started grad school; and started getting to know more people.

I'm so ready for 2016! It's going to be bolder and better than ever before!

The adventure continues here.

New Year's Day

From this afternoon's greeting to the New Year at Kos.

I have one goal for 2015, and that is to live more, or:

to continue going to the gym regularly and run at least one 5k;

to continue playing violin;

to continue reading regularly;

to continue finding joy in small details;

to spend more time with friends and family;

to make more trips;

to take more advantage of this city;

to take more photos;

to make every day count.

Here's to the new year!

2014

Today is Day 12 in "The 12 Days of Flashbacks," or 12 days of photos looking back on the past calendar year.

I think that while 2014 was not without its low points, overall, it was my best year yet.

I spent many happy hours with friends both old and new, as well as family.

I enjoyed the seasons much more than I had in the past.

I tried to make the most of what the City had to offer, trying new cafes, coffee shops, restaurants, and museums; watching the marathon; seeing a movie; spending time in parks and libraries; and watching the fireworks on the Fourth of July.

I finally took a vacation and made some trips back home.

I got into running and chamber music and made good on my commitments to read and photograph more.

I am grateful for it all and I hope to build on it for the coming year.

Two Oh One Three

2013 was a good year overall. I had cake with friends for my birthday, hot chocolate from Grom for Valentine's Day, and Pad Thai just because. I travelled all over Brooklyn and Manhattan, from Greenpoint to Sheepshead Bay, and from the Lower East Side to Washington Heights. I attended a Proust reading with madeleines, and looked at neat items at Anthropologie in Chelsea and sparkly ones at Lush in Cambridge. I found myself balancing time with friends and family, not as well as I would have liked, but still enough for favorable memories. I moved apartments and workplaces, both for the better. I relished spring in the City, where tulips bloomed in Central Park and Carl Schurz Park, and the Hungarian Pastry Shop made a good rest stop. I enjoyed Central Park in the winter and in the fall, and delighted in the holiday lights of the West Village. I danced, did yoga, and ran. I celebrated all of the good things that happened, and am now inspired and ready for what 2014 may bring.

Twenty Twelve

I hadn't realized, without looking back on it, how great this year was.

I had candles on my birthday cake for the first time in years,
started taking dance classes,
went all over Brooklyn to smell flowers, feel the sand, and meet friends,
went abroad for the first time in a while,
went swimming in a lake,
took live yoga classes for the first time ever,
found gorgeous neighborhoods, parks, and gardens,
and settled into a new place to call home.

I'm grateful and looking forward to 2013.
