From Sunday's walk around the neighborhood. November is when we start seeing the best of fall.

First Weekend

This was a weekend of firsts, and great ones at that. My first time going to the IFC. My first time going to a movie alone (I believe.) My first time seeing "Boyhood" (really, really enjoyable.) My first time trying Nutella coffee at Nutelleria (which tasted subtly of Nutella.)  My first time cheering NYC Marathon Runners in Brooklyn. Other highlights included playing violin, running again, listening to new (to me) music, and grabbing a long-awaited-for book from the library. I really enjoyed starting November off this way.

Fall in Prospect Park

I didn't have to go far to find autumn this past weekend, and for that I am thankful. 

Weekend

From a much-needed, low-key fall weekend. This one featured a walk in Prospect Park, hot chocolate at home, iced mocha from LPQ (too watery, unfortunately), Haydn, Beethoven, and Schubert, much-needed conversations with friends, and a now-cozy apartment that is truly ready for the week.

The Fall Windows at Bergdorf

A few books ago, I realized that Bergdorf Goodman might not only have holiday windows, but ones for the seasons as well. This weekend, I saw that this was to some extent true. While there aren't that many windows, some do express the magic of fall. And to me, they're classic New York.

This might just be worth making a tradition out of!

Fall Market

This was one of the best I've ever seen. Union Square was bursting with fall—with colorful vegetables and fruits, including pumpkins. I strolled through it for a while on Saturday, looking at all of the produce and the flowers, and taking in the season. Here's to the Union Square farmer's market, where I celebrated fall in full, cup of apple cider in hand.  I'm keeping my promise to enjoy this season to its fullest, because autumn in New York is really something.

Follow fall's natural rainbow from SoHo to Central Park. There's no lucky pot at the end, though. The fortune's in stumbling upon such vibrant, (mostly) natural colors and knowing that they are characteristic to fall alone.

Fall Weekend

This weekend, I finally found fall. I also found joy in little things, like a lemon chocolate bar. Like sight-reading some of Beethoven's violin sonatas, and reading about Beethoven in The New Yorker. Pink-topped coffee from Le Pain Quotidien in Central Park (light, friendly, and worth another trip.) The second movement of Saint-Saens' Piano Trio in F, as performed by Kogan/Rostropovich/Gilels. Kale wrapped in tweed from the Union Square Farmer's market, and a new salad recipe to feature it. Basil-scented hand soap. The music at 34th St-Herald Square. Spicy crackers with Havarti cheese over conversation about music and life. "Derniere Danse." Remembering passages of "Rules" while walking by Bergdorf's and St. Patrick's.

Experiencing the season through apple cider and mums on every corner.
