Weekend

Shakespeare in the Park at last (patience and luck prevailed). French toast with fresh mascarpone at Extra Virgin in the morning. The best coffee in my neighborhood (Postmark).  Avocado toast in the morning and a digestive with tea in the afternoon. Strolls in West Village and the Upper West Side, and peek into a performance at Lincoln Center. And a green juice to close out the day.

Weekend

From a busy weekend with some great moments, even though I was feeling under the weather: "Z" by Therese Ann-Fowler and the Manhattan skyline. Finding a nice reminder in Union Square and listening to the tide at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Amusing and educating myself with books from The Strand and Barnes and Noble. Finally going to The Frick. Trying banana pudding on the Lower East Side, returning to explore Economy Candy, and buying green-tea-flavored candies.

And last but not least, finding the best and most New York coffee by the High Line. (Stumptown, you've been trumped!)

Weekend

This past weekend featured such a great mix of culture, fitness, and food/drink, along with a few necessary errands.

On Saturday, I went to a rebounding class, which I enjoyed more after having first tried it last month. At night, I heard the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra perform Mozart's Symphony No. 34 and Brahms' Symphony No. 4 at Lincoln Center. I tried Vietnamese/Thai iced coffee from The Doughnut Plant (refreshing, just the right bitterness and sweetness until the end, when there was unfortunately an overly sweet layer of condensed milk on the bottom of the cup) and a pumpkin bun from The Golden Steamer (check).

On Sunday, I went to my first-ever barre class at the gym (I had previously tried barre at my former dance studio), which was challenging at times but which finished beautifully with Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah." I followed that with a small latte (just the right amount of bitterness and sweetness, just the right amount of caffeine) and avocado toast (topped with feta) at Bluebird, where I talked with a friendly Southern couple and their children. I explored and photographed more of the Lower East Side (more on that later). I capped off the evening with salted dark chocolate ice cream from Ample Hills in Gowanus.

This is just about how I'd like to spend the rest of my weekends. (I'd just add a little more culture and nature.) I can't wait till the next one!

Weekend at Tanglewood

I've wanted to go to Tanglewood, an outdoor classical music festival in the Berkshires, for longer than I can remember. This past weekend, I finally got the chance to attend, and it was worth the early wake-up time. The grounds were beautiful, and the views of the mountains and the lake will be on my mind for some time (not to mention the fancy garden with the sundial and the whispering bench). The Boston Symphony Orchestra played Mozart well under the baton of Sir Neville Marriner, whom I had only heard of (or heard on the radio) previously. I'd go again, hopefully with more time on my hands.

Weekend

This past weekend, I went dress shopping again (no dice, but I did get a delicious smoothie from The Juice Press—"The Brazilian.") I also explored part of the Lower East Side and am itching to go back and photograph more of the neighborhood. I made time for violin, exercise, and essential oils. It was pretty good, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward more to these next few days.

Independence Day Weekend

This past long weekend was pretty good. I found time for dress-shopping (not successful yet) and my first-ever minor league baseball game on Country Music Night, complete with post-game fireworks. I went the wrong way on Bleecker St. and stumbled upon a newish soda fountain, where I enjoyed a chocolate malt. I tried Aroma again, ate birthday-cake-flavored ice cream, and did yoga. I'm looking forward to this weekend, and to the next one!

Weekend on the East Side

From a fun-filled but surprisingly very relaxing weekend, which is how I'd like to spend the rest of my weekends this month and next.

From a weekend where I saw Saturn through a telescope at Lincoln Center and couldn't believe it was real. Where I bounced on a mini-trampoline at a rebounding class at the gym (really intense and fun, and definitely worth repeating!). Where I finally went inside LadurĂ©e on the Upper East Side and tried cherry blossom and rose macarons. (The inside had a little parlor for desserts and teas, and the macarons seemed to taste better than others I've tried.) Explored the neighborhood two days in a row (more on that later). Learned some family history. Saw "Interstellar" after becoming familiar with it from its soundtrack (really enjoyed it). Drank a latte and ate a chocolate chip cookie at Everyman Espresso (just the right amount of bitterness, but not caffeinated enough. Great "chill" atmosphere.) To many more weekends like this!

Weekend in the Village

A scheduling error led to a quieter than normal weekend, but I still found ways to make it nice. Most of my weekend was spent in the Village, where I meditated over music and life. I caught "Eden," a thought-provoking film, at the IFC Center. I drank a latte and ate a Megpie at Stumptown (fantastic atmosphere and pastries, not-so-amazing coffee).

I also found time to run and do yoga in Brooklyn, as well as to indulge myself with books by and relating to my favorite author. I'll take it.

Weekend

Errands have a way of catching up to you, and they'll do it on weekends if you've been trying to have fun during the week as I have. This weekend was spent doing the things I'd been putting off earlier (like buying gym clothes and eye cream) and making time for myself with coffee and yoga at home, as well as a 3.2+ mile run at the gym. One of the most enjoyable things, though, (after yoga) was re-assessing the things I have and finding how good it feels to have a little bit less. While I don't have that many things, and I do love some of the things I've thought about again, I'm happy without them too. Having closed out the evening with pizza from Joe's, I'm ready for this short week.
