Eucalyptus.

Eucalyptus makes me happy because it reminds me of my first violin teacher, and the eucalyptus is referenced in a song I think I first heard on Galgalatz. I also like its scent. It's been a lovely addition to the kitchen this week.

Blooms

How New York blossoms in the summer.

I spent a long time deciding on my flowers for the week. It'd been a while since I last bought flowers, and there were so many enticing options at the market. When I came home in the end, I realized that I picked the bouquet composed of nearly all the available flowers! As if that weren't good enough, I also realized I had enough flowers to have not one but two bouquets. (I'm actually happier with the bouquet that I arranged myself!)

Before I went out last week, I imagined getting pink flowers—peonies, maybe. Instead, I found these vibrant carnations, which have been livening up my windowsill for the past week and a half. Here's to May!

Flowers & Rain

I set out on Tuesday morning with the objective of capturing spring's most beautiful flowers. Once at Columbus Circle, I realized that only the daffodils and grape hyacinths seemed ready. I may just have to wait until May (with a cup of tea in hand.)

Weekend

This past weekend was ambitious but still pleasant (thank goodness for 52 hours!) It included delighting in extra sunshine, Joe's pizza for movie night, running 3 miles, yoga, chamber music, reading, watching professional ice skaters at Rockefeller Center, making up for Thursday's dinner with a strawberry- and fudge-topped waffle, testing out a cake recipe, experiencing Central Park after the official (but not so much practical) start of spring, and bringing spring inside.

Flowered District

It may not technically be spring until tomorrow, but there's a section of New York showing signs of the incoming season. I look forward to seeing it change with time.

Weekend

Pre-planning. The lovely scent of flowers. Book-browsing. Flower district. Sparkles. To read.

Running again. Chamber music with a full group again. Picking a new book to read. 

The weekend was short but still good. Among other things, I managed to fit in three runs, a chamber music rehearsal, and a trip to the Flower District, an area I'd heard of but never visited. (I'm making a mental note to visit in late spring.) I'm really looking forward to the start of spring, and next weekend!
