Red Hook

This past weekend brought an adventure to Red Hook for key lime pie (chocolate-covered, on a stick) and general exploration. I knew in advance that Red Hook had an industrial feel to it, but I was surprised to find it more like a combination of Gowanus and Williamsburgthat is, industrial but also commercial and artsy. I found unexpected art on so many walls, as well as little shops on several streets. The neighborhood also has a pier that reminds me of Bay Ridge's one. Red Hook is home to a few parks and several waterfront views (including what is considered one of the best of the Statue of Liberty). It really isn't just IKEA-land.
