The Cloisters

The Cloisters are striking for their immense peace and quiet. Walking through the halls of the museum and the outside gardens, with their sour orange trees and medieval vegetables and salads, is a supremely serene experience, and just the thing for escaping the City. I couldn't help being struck this past weekend by the beauty of medieval art, architecture, and sculpture. I was inspired by the aquamaniles and the roundels in windows, and fascinated by the unicorn tapestries. While small, this museum is a must-see.
